Everyone is invited to a screening of the acclaimed documentary, Forbidden: Undocumented and Queer in Rural America on Thursday, April 13, 2017 at 3:00pm in the Cabell Library Lecture Hall, Room 303, 901 Park Avenue (Monroe Park Campus). This event will feature questions and answers following the screening with special guests, director, producer, and writer Tiffany Rhynard, writer, editor and producer Heather Mathews, and the producer and lead subject of the documentary, Moises Serrano. Everyone is invited to attend the Immigration and Race Symposium at VCU, Wednesday, April 5, 2017, from 3:30 pm - 6:15 pm. Location is the Academic Learning Commons at 1000 Floyd Avenue, Room 1102.
Panel 1, starting at 3:30 pm will discuss Immigration Policy and its Impact on Education, with Mona Siddiqui, JD, and Saltanat Liebert, PhD, from the L. Douglas Wilder School of Government and Public Affairs.
At 5:00 PM, Panel 2 will discuss Ethical and Historical Insights on Immigration, with Javier Hidalgo, PhD, University of Richmond, and Melis Hafez, PhD, VCU Department of History.
